ABOUT GOLF RSA

Growing Golf.

Building South Africa.

GolfRSA is the unified body for amateur golf in South Africa, formed through the collaboration of the South Africa Golf Association
(SAGA), Women’s Golf South Africa (WGSA), South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) and South African Disabled Golf
Association (SADGA) . We are the custodians of the game, dedicated to growing and developing golf at all levels – supporting players,
clubs, unions and industries across the country.

Our greatest asset lies in our deep-rooted expertise, industry knowledge, and commitment to fostering talent. From grassroots development to high-performance programs, our story is one of dedication, opportunity, and passion for making golf accessible to all.
Driving a united, world-class, and inclusive golfing ecosystem that grows the game across South Africa.
We serve a diverse community of golfers (from juniors and emerging talents to elite amateurs and recreation and club players), golf administrators and coaches, as well as corporate partners and sponsors, who invest in the game’s future.
Working alongside The R&A, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, and our network of unions, clubs, industry stakeholders, partners and sponsors, we bring this vision to life in our community through development, performance and education

Pillars

GolfRSA’s work is built on five strong pillars.

1. Excellence & Performance

We identify and support South Africa’s best amateur golfers through structured, high-performance programmes. This is supported with expert
coaching, fitness, elite competition opportunities with expert officials, preparing them for national and international success
and life in the professional ranks.

2. Grow the Game

We create opportunities for all South Africans from all backgrounds to learn and play golf. We want to ensure golf thrives across communities, ages and abilities. This includes grassroots development through The South African Golf Development Board (SAGDB) , schools programmes and community and industry partnerships.

3. Education & Wellbeing

Through partnerships with CMASA, the PGA of South Africa, and The R&A, we promote growth and wellbeing though education, bursaries, training and career pathways across the golf ecosystem.

4. Unity & Inclusion

We champion inclusivity, sportsmanship and a sense of belonging. We build stronger communities through golf, creating opportunities for participation, growth and connection through grassroots and junior programmes, caddie development, women’s golf and community outreach.

5. Governance & Partnerships

We value accountability, transparency, fairness, honesty, integrity and respect in our governance, as well as in our collaboration with unions, clubs, sponsors and organisations in the golf industry.

Squad Overall

GolfRSA’s high-performance national squad programme ensure that South Africa’s leading and rising amateurs have access to world-class coaching, competition and career guidance.
The squad, launched in 2016 with the support of Johann Rupert, exposes the players to technical coaching, fitness and mental training, as well as opportunities to compete internationally. The women’s programme also includes the Qalisa Squad, a feeder initiative that introduces young girls to the squad ethos and competitive structure. The pathway ensures that each player is not only prepared to succeed in the professional game, but also embodies integrity, respect and excellence – values at the heart of our sport.
Graduates of the programme have gone on to win on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, Ladies European Tour, Sunshine Tour and Sunshine Ladies Tour, and many squad members compete successfully in the USA college system, showing that South African golf is thriving on the global stage.
