Samu reaches Girl’s British Open match play

As South Africa’s Jaco van Zyl and Brandon Stone begin their bid in the Men’s Golf Competition at the 2016 Olympic Games, compatriot Ivanna Samu will fly the flag for the country in the very prestigious Girl’s British Open Amateur Match Play in Wales on Wednesday.

Samu seizes joint third in Wales

Solid putting and ball striking handed Ivanna Samu a share of third in the first round of the Girl’s British Open Amateur Qualifying in Wales on Tuesday. The 17-year-old SA number one fired an opening three-under-par 70 to join Patricia Garre from Spain.
The pair is one shot behind Sweden’s Julia Engstrom and just two off the pace from first round leader Paula Neira from Spain.

De Villiers Graaff drives to SA High Schools victory

Just a year after their first appearance in the SA High School Championship, De Villiers Graaff High School blew away the competition and celebrated victory in the prestigious high school team event in East London on Friday. Herman Loubser, Tyron Davidowitz and Daniel Cronje posted rounds of 228 and 219 at East London Golf Club to steer the team to a seven stroke victory on nine over 447.

Krugerpark Primary clinches Ernie’s Championship

Krugerpark Primary School celebrated an eight shot victory over Curro Serengeti in the sixth Ernie Els SA Primary School Championship on Friday. The champions combined for an opening total of 241 at Port Shepstone Country Club and protected their lead in the second round with a 260 to triumph on 501.
