Gauteng North’s Zander Lombard fired a magnificent five-under-par 67 in the opening round of the Sanlam Cape Province Open to lead by one shot from Armand Scholtz and Gerlou Roux.

James du Preez celebrated a lengthy return to form from injury with his first senior provincial title at the North West Open Championship on Sunday. The Pretoria golfer tied Gerlou Roux from the Western Province in regulation play on 14-under-par 274, and clinched the title in a sudden death play-off at Rustenburg Golf Club.

Reigning Sanlam SA Amateur champion Thriston Lawrence fired a superb four-under-par 68 at Rustenburg Golf Club to join Gauteng North Stroke Play champion Keegan de Lange, Douglas McCabe and Jason Viljoen in the lead at the North West Open Championship on Friday.

Central Gauteng will be looking to extend their dominance in the Indwe SA Senior Amateur Inter-Provincial Tournament, when the 26^th edition of the country’s largest national Senior team competition tees off at De Zalze and Erinvale from 7-11 April this year.
