SA claims top 45 finish at Eisenhower Trophy

Pretoria duo Zander Lombard and Jason Smith pulled out all the stops in the final round of the 29th World Amateur Team Championships in Japan to secure a top 45 finish for South Africa in the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy on Saturday.
Their combined final round two-under-par 142 took the team tally to one-over-par 573 and secured 43rd place for South Africa in the final standings at Karuizawa 72 East Golf Club.

Modderfontein ready to impress Open Champion

Modderfontein Golf Club’s four-man side is primed to pull out all the stops to impress former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen in their title defence at the Louis Oosthuizen South African Junior Club Championship this weekend.
Dylan Naidoo, Marco Steyn and Karabo Mokoena return for duty with Eric Wowor, who will make his debut in the 54-hole championship that tees off at Mossel Bay Golf Club on Saturday.

SA slip at Eisenhower in Japan

The South African team dropped out of the top 40 in the third round of the Eisenhower Trophy at the biennial World Amateur Team Championship in Japan on Friday.
The local trio failed to score on the easy nine of the Oshitate Course and came away with a three-over-par 145 that saw them slip from joint 36th to a tie for 42nd on three-over-par 431 with Guatemala, Hong Kong and Bermuda

SA team has work to do in Japan

Pretoria golfer Zander Lombard bolstered the South African challenge in the Eisenhower Trophy with a solid first round performance at the biennial World Amateur Team Championship in Japan on Wednesday.
The British Amateur finalist fired a four-under-par 68 at the Iriyama Course to boost the team to a six-way tie on even-par 144. Western Province’s Gerlou Roux returned a 76 and fellow Pretoria golfer, Jason Smith, carded a non-counting 78.
