Ekurhuleni celebrated a hard-earned promotion, but their joy was overshadowed by the utter elation and delight of the Gauteng North team, who ended a 29 year winning drought with an outstanding performance at the 2013 South African Inter-Provincial at Rustenburg Golf Club. The 2013 champions ended their campaign in terrific style by handing KwaZulu-Natal a decisive 9.5 – 2.5 drubbing in the final round on Friday, to put the seal on an unbeaten record in the week-long premier team championship, sponsored by Tempest.

Ekurhuleni strengthened their bid for promotion with a 3-1 lead after the B-Section foursomes at Rustenburg Golf Club this morning, but the scales have tipped in the A-Section with three teams now battling to avoid regelation at this year’s South African Inter-Provincial, sponsored by Tempest.

Free State and Northern Cape hit the front in the fourth round foursomes at the 2013 South African Inter-Provincial, sponsored by Tempest, and will take a comfortable 3-1 cushion into their singles against Ekurhuleni.

Ekurhuleni strengthened their bid for promotion with two impressive victories in Wednesday’s third round at Rustenburg Golf Club and has thrown down the gauntlet at this year’s South African Inter-Provincial, sponsored by Tempest. The side beat Eastern Province 8-3 and handed Border a 9-3 drubbing to pull level with current B-Section log leader, Free State and Northern Cape.

The Western Cape’s Tristan Galant lifted the Nomads South African Under-13 Championship title at the Fish River Sun Country Club. The SAGDB learner from Belhar carded rounds of 75-73-71 to win by four shots. Southern Cape combined for a final round 363 to win the team competition.

The Southern Cape caught log-leaders Gauteng North off-guard in this morning’s foursomes and will take a 3-1 lead into the A-Division singles at the South African Inter-Provincial, sponsored by Tempest, at Rustenburg Golf Club.

Gauteng North’s Werner van Niekerk sunk a nervy seven-footer for birdie at the 18^th hole to halve his game with Armand Scholtz and gift his team the crucial half point needed to beat Boland for their second successive victory in the South African Inter-Provincial, sponsored by Tempest, at Rustenburg Golf Club.
