Bruyns cruising at Argentine Amateur

South Africa’s Drikus Bruyns comfortably advanced to the second round of the 117th Argentine Amateur Championship at the Pilar Golf Club near Buenos Aires on Thursday. South Africa’s fourth ranked amateur thumped Teemu Tapani Toivonen from Finland 3&1 to set up a match against local favourite Jaime Lopez Ravarola in today’s second round.

Lombard and Bujela set amateur pace at SA Open

South Africa’s number three ranked amateur Zander Lombard and Southern Cape Open champion Sipho Bujela laid down early markers for the Freddie Tait Cup awarded to the leading amateur when they opened up a gap on the remaining amateurs challenging at this year’s South African Open Championship.

Bujela makes historic debut at SA Open

Soweto amateur Sipho Bujela will make history as the first black amateur exempt from qualifying when he tees it up in the South African Open Championship at Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate on Thursday. As the custodians of the country’s national Open, the South African Golf Association (SAGA) nominates five top amateurs to play in the championship. This year’s nominations are Brandon Stone, Zander Lombard and Haydn Porteous, who represented South Africa at the World Amateur Team Championships in Turkey, Ekurhuleni’s Gert Myburgh and Bujela.
