South Africa celebrated a crushing victory in the inaugural Golf Test Series against India at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Sunday. The South African team vowed to win the Test for fallen team-mate Mellette Hendrikse. True to their word, the four-man senior and mid-Amateur sides clinched six of the eight Singles matches to defeat the host nation 11.5 – 4.5.
The South Africa team was in commanding form as they extended their first round advantage to three points in Saturday’s second round of the inaugural Golf Test Series in India. The local heroes racked up victories in three of the four Fourballs games and will head in to the final round on Sunday leading Indian 5.5 – 2.5.

The South African golfing community is reeling with shock at the unexpected passing of one of its most passionate administrators, Mellette Hendrikse.
“Mellette was extremely well known and respected, both as a player and golf administrator, and we were incredibly saddened to learn that he passed away after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday afternoon,” said South African Golf Association acting president Geoff Taylor.
