South Africa wins first ever Test against India

South Africa celebrated a crushing victory in the inaugural Golf Test Series against India at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Sunday. The South African team vowed to win the Test for fallen team-mate Mellette Hendrikse. True to their word, the four-man senior and mid-Amateur sides clinched six of the eight Singles matches to defeat the host nation 11.5 – 4.5.

The family requests that those attending please wear their highest golfing attire, i.e. local, provincial or national blazers.

SA golf mourns Mellette Hendrikse

The South African golfing community is reeling with shock at the unexpected passing of one of its most passionate administrators, Mellette Hendrikse.
“Mellette was extremely well known and respected, both as a player and golf administrator, and we were incredibly saddened to learn that he passed away after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday afternoon,” said South African Golf Association acting president Geoff Taylor.
