The South African Golf Association’s (SAGA) new ranking points system, applicable to the leading tournaments on it’s 2009 calendar, kicks into operation from the Prince’s Grant Amateur tournament, being played at Prince’s Grant Golf Club, Kwazulu-Natal, which concludes today.

The SA Amateur Stroke Play entries close on 26 January 2009. With the criteria for entering being the Top 150 players on the SAGA ranking system as of 31 December 2008 or the Top 250 players on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) as of the same date.
The relevant ranking lists have been amended after the Sunshine Tour released the final names of the amateur golfers who have taken up playing privileges for the 2009 season.

Adrian Ford signed for a final round of a 73, one over par, today finishing with a 72 hole aggregate of 289, one over par, and in so doing wins the prestigious Freddie Tait Trophy as the leading amateur in the South African Open Championship.
Adrian Ford dropped down the leader board after a three over par 75 in today’s third round of the South African Open Championship being played at Pearl Valley Golf Estates just outside Paarl in the Western Cape.
