DURBAN (6 March 2008) – Boland’s Jacques Blaauw maintained his challenge for the double when he won through to the semi-finals of the Glacier SA Amateur Championship at Royal Durban Golf Club on Thursday morning.
DURBAN (5 March 2008) – Policeman Hugo Delport (pictured on the right), playing with his third set of golf clubs after his were stolen, has made it through to the quarter-finals of the Glacier SA Amateur Championship on another day of upsets at Royal Durban Golf Club on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old Delport, who works as a policeman in Pretoria but plays provincial golf for Ekurhuleni, beat 21-year-old Stephen Swanepoel 2 and 1 in the morning and then 22-year-old Ryan Clarke 3 and 2 in the afternoon.
DURBAN (5 March 2008) – South African number one Dylan Frittelli was the biggest name to fall by the wayside in the Glacier SA Amateur Championship at Royal Durban Golf Club on Wednesday morning.
Frittelli was three up through 11 holes against Steven Paine, but went on to lose one up in the round of 32 matches played in the morning.
DURBAN (4 March 2008) – South African number one Dylan Frittelli (pictured on the right) holed a 40-foot eagle putt on the 18th to beat Johan du Buisson in the feature match of the first round of the Glacier SA Amateur Championship at Royal Durban Golf Club on Tuesday.
Frittelli had to draw on some of his best golf early on in the championship and against the other tournament favourite on a day when some big names failed to get past the first round.
