Nienaber coasts to SA Boys U-17 triumph

Free State junior Wilco Nienaber sealed his first victory this season with a commanding wire-to-wire performance in the Nomads SA Boys Under-17 Championship in George on Thursday.
Nienaber opened with a three-under-par 69 at Kingswood Golf Estate, kept his one shot overnight lead in tact with a second 71 and completed his march to victory with a final round 70 to claim a four shot victory on six-under-par 210.

Mother Nature made life tough for the juniors competing in the Nomads SA Boys U-17 Championship in George, but Free State golfer Wilco Nienaber hung tough to preserve his overnight lead in Tuesday’s second round at Kingswood Golf Estate.
The 16-year-old Bloemfontein golfer followed an opening 69 with a 71 to finish one shot clear of Daniel Cronje from Boland at four-under-par 140.

Brilliant Big Easy triumph for Beckley

North West amateur Aubrey Beckley claimed the Big Easy – Irene by one-stroke from Makhetha Mazibuko after a flawless final round six-under-par 66 at Irene Country Club on Tuesday.
Beckley’s victory marks a second time this season that an amateur has won on the Sunshine Tour’s development circuit after fellow HPC Tuks Golf Academy player Dylan Naidoo claimed the opening event on this year’s schedule.
