Filippi holds all the aces at Fancourt

Milnerton junior Luca Filippi continued to stamp his dominance on the inaugural Dimension Data Junior Open with yet another impressive run at Fancourt Country Club on Thursday.
Filippi opened his account with a five-under-par 67 at the Outeniqua course and well raced clear of the opposition with a four under 69 at the challenging Links to lead at nine-under-par 136.

Swanepoel soars at USSA Champs

Phillip Swanepoel from Stellenbosch University claimed the Individual Competition in the 36-hole Stroke Play qualifier at the USSA Championship on Tuesday. Swanepoel’s well-timed five-under-par 67 at Port Shepstone Golf Club carried him to the top of the standings and also helped Maties 1 to a tie for fifth in the final Teams Standings.

Blaauw steers Tuks into early lead at USSA Champs

For a second year running, Reinhardt Blaauw gave the University of Pretoria an early boost as Tuks for their title defence at the annual University Sport South Africa (USSA) Championships underway at Port Shepstone Golf Club on Monday.
Blaauw, who took the Individual honours in the 36-hole Stroke Play qualifier last year, fired a blistering five-under-par 67 and combined with Marco Loubser (72) and Ryan Lane (73) to steer the Tuks 1 to the top of the Stroke Play qualifier standings on 212.

National breakthrough for Saulez in St Francis Bay

Matt Saulez was convinced that he blew his chances in the Nomads National Order Merit Coastal after a bit of bushwhacking on the back nine at St Francis Links, but the KwaZulu-Natal player hung tough and produced the goods to seal a maiden victory on the South African Golf Association’s national junior circuit on Monday.
