Mpumalanga dethrone Boland at Country Districts

Mpumalanga disrupted Boland’s title defence in the opening round of the SA Country Districts, while the battle between Ekurhuleni and North West ended in a 6-all draw at ERPM Golf Club on Monday.
Meanwhile Free State defeated Limpopo 6.5 – 5.5, KwaZulu-Natal swept to a 7.5 – 4.5 victory against Northern Cape and Southern Cape whipped Eastern Province 8 – 4 in the B-Section.

Central, Gauteng North off to solid Challenge Cup start

Central Gauteng got their title defence in the Challenge Cup Teams Tournament underway with a solid opening round performance, while Gauteng North launched a spirited comeback in the Singles to down the South African Universities side (USSA) and Western Province narrowly edged out the SAGA Juniors on day one of the prestigious national team event at Milnerton Golf Club on Monday.

Strydom in ascendancy again in KZN

South Africa’s number one ranked Tristen Strydom continued his hot streak with his third provincial victory in two months at Port Shepstone on Sunday. The 17-year-old Serengeti golfer carded rounds of 69, 65, 66 and 70 to claim the in the KwaZulu-Natal Open Championship title on 18-under-par 270, finishing five strokes clear of Western Province’s Sean Bradley.
