Top ranked Kim Williams carded a 73 in the second round of the Mexican Women’s Amateur Championships to move up to tied second place. The event is being played at the Club de Golf, Vallescondido, Mexico City this week.
Yushira Budhram finished in fifth position in the US Junior Masters in December and sent WGSA a report on the event.
Kim Williams and Iliska Verwey competed in the first round of the Mexican Womens’ Amateur Championship under pressure having lost their luggage en route from Johannesburg to Mexico. Kim is tied in fourth place on 74, but Iliska did not find the going easy, finishing on 81.
Lara Weinstein won the 54 hole Tanzanian Women’s Amateur Championship played at the TPC Club in Kilamanjaro from 4 – 6 December, four strokes ahead of Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini.
SA Junior Yushira Budhram carded 78, 76, 75 (+13) in the United States Junior Masters golf tournament to finish in fifth position. The inaugural event was played on the Ocean Course at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Verdra Beach, Florida from 20 to 23 December.
15-Year old Glendower member Lara Weinstein, playing off a three handicap, won the inaugural 54 hole KwaZulu Natal Junior Championship played at Umkomaas Golf Club this week.

In her final year as a junior, Rondebosch’s Rushda Mallick topped the scoreboard at the inaugutal Nomads Western Province Junior Stroke Play Championships played at Westlake Golf Club on Sunday 13 December 2009.
