Kaleigh Telfer and Ivanna Samu saved their best performances for moving day to lift South Africa to 20th at the World Amateur Team Championship, while South Korea is on the verge of its fourth Espirito Santo Trophy title as Hye Jin Choi and Min Ji Park built a 14-stroke lead over Switzerland in Friday’s third round.

South Africans back pedal at Espirito Trophy

Min Ji Park and Hye Jin Choi posted respective rounds of 68 and 69 to lift the Republic of Korea to a seven shot lead in the Espirito Santo Trophy, while South Africa slipped outside the top 20 on day two of the 27th World Amateur Team Championship in Mexico.

Swiss lead, SA inside top 20 at WWATC

Sisters Morgane and Kim Metraux fired rounds of 68 and 69 respectively to propel Switzerland to a one-stroke lead in the first round of the 27th Espirito Santo Trophy, while South Africa will start today’s second round in joint 18th at the Women’s World Amateur Team Championships (WWATC).

Top SA amateurs gear up in England and Mexico

This week will launch some significant activity in the ranks of world amateur golf with the 16th edition of the invitation-only Duke of York Young Champions in England and the start of the prestigious World Amateur Teams Championships (WATC) for both men and women, being held back to back near Cancun in Mexico this September.
