Vanessa Smith from Western Province achieved a memorable SA Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship double on a windswept dayat St Francis Links on Wednesday.

Western Province golfer Vanessa Smith is targeting a repeat performance in the South African Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship that tees off at the magnificent St Francis Links from 2 to 4 November.

Gauteng North rising star Danielle du Toit added her name to a prestigious list of champions including Ivanna Samu, Nobuhle Dlamini from Swaziland and Cara Gorlei when she lifted the 35th Ackerman Championship title at the weekend.

Playing for pride, the South African team produced their best golf in the final round of the Spirit International at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas on Wednesday.

The South African team made a very sombre start in the second round of the Spirit International at Whispering Pines Golf Club in in Texas on Tuesday after their disqualification from the Team Competition.

The South African team will need to dig deep in Tuesday’s second round after the quartet made a cool start in smouldering hot weather conditions in the Spirit International at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Texas.

South Africa’s top amateurs Teaghan Gauche, Ivanna Samu, Matthew Spacey, Kaleigh Telfer and WGSA national coach Val Holland touched down in Texas for the 2015 Spirit International at the spectacular Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity.

Four of South Africa’s top ranked amateur golfers will be pursuing the country’s first success in the Spirit International, which tees off at the renowned Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas on Monday.
