Williams leads favourites into third round of SA Match Play

South African number one Kim Williams has led all of the favourites into the third round of the Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship at Benoni Country Club.
Williams won her first two matches 7/6 and 3/1 on a day when reigning stroke play champion Nobuhle Dlamini also won comfortably, as did Bertine Strauss.

Krüger stuns big names in Sanlam SA Amateur qualifying

Pretoria golfer Magda Krüger surprised the biggest names in South African women’s amateur golf when she led Sunday’s 36-hole qualifying round for the Sanlam SA Women’s Amateur Match Play Championship at Benoni Country Club.
Krüger posted rounds of 73 and 69 to finish at two under par and one stroke clear of second-placed Bertine Strauss and Bonita Bredenhann.

WGSA announces Team for Espirito Santo Trophy

Women’s Golf South Africa has pleasure in announcing the team to represent South Africa at the World Amateur Team Championships to be played at the Gloria Golf Club in Antalya, Turkey from 27 to 30 September 2012.

The team is Bertine Strauss, Alana van Greuning and Kim Williams. Accompanying them will be non-playing Captain, Sandra Winter, and National Coach, Val Holland, with WGSA President Cynthia Rayner as Manager. Pictured here are two of the players, Alana van Greuning and Kim Williams.

Michaela wins the Nomads SA Girls Championship

KZN’s Michaela Fletcher lifted the 2012 Nomads SA Girls 54 hole Championship Trophy at Orkney Golf Club by four strokes from Gauteng North’s Carrie Park and the Under 16 Champion, Se Young Chun from Western Province. She is pictured here receiving her trophy from Nomads Chairman Mark Philp.

Michaela increases her lead in frosty conditions

KZN’s Michaela Fletcher increased her lead to six strokes going into the final round of the 54-Hole Nomads SA Girls’ Championships. She and second placed Carrie Park carded two-over 74s in the second round played today at Orkney Golf Club in the North West Province.

After the benign weather on the first day of the championship, the players awoke to stunning views of a white golf course with mist rising over the Vaal River flowing alongside the 10th tee.West Province. WGSA President Cynthia Rayner is pictured here teeing the players off on a frosty fairway.
