Women in Golf Charter
Why the Charter Matters
Launched in 2018 by The R&A as a critical initiative to safeguard the future of our sport, the Women in Golf Charter was developed to
not only increase women and girls’ participation in golf, but also to encourage more opportunities for women to work within the industry.
The Charter is grounded in the idea that simple-yet-impactful changes in the way we operate and communicate will not only allow golf
to strike a better gender balance, change perceptions and increase participation, but also provide an opportunity to create a more
inclusive and representative industry.
GolfRSA is proud to be a signatory to The Women in Golf Charter led by The R&A and pledges to support the charter through its
strategic objectives: Read GolfRSA’s charter here
Adoption of the Charter requires national associations, clubs and other golf bodies to build on and develop initiatives which will focus on
encouraging more women and girls to play golf and stay within the sport as members of clubs, while also empowering women to enjoy
successful careers working within the golf industry.

Every signatory is asked to devise their own Charter Commitments – a set of specific actions tailored to each organisation, designed to
create a more welcoming environment for women and girls throughout the sport.
How You Can Get Involved and Become a Charter signatory
GolfRSA encourages unions, clubs and businesses to sign up to the Charter and has provided a list of strategic objectives in our signed
Charter: Read GolfRSA’s charter here. This will ensure that we work together to achieve the aims of the Charter.
As key stakeholders within the golf industry, you are positioned to influence the role women and girls play within both your organisation
and the wider industry, in addition to increasing participation within the sport itself.
Signing up to the Charter and the activity it promotes could therefore be the ideal complement to the activity your organisation is
already undertaking in the areas of diversity and gender balance. Furthermore, it could help start important conversations around the
adoption of certain practices that bring about lasting change.
