National Squad men
The GolfRSA National Squad was launched, and has been funded by businessman Johann Rupert in 2016. One of the main objectives of the squad programme is to ensure that our best players are groomed to represent South Africa in international competition and are fully prepared for life in the paid ranks, should they opt to turn professional.
The National Squad is made up of some of the most talented and promising young amateurs in South African golf, with a good mix of players from the top of the open and junior amateur rankings, and promising youngsters.
“We believe that by encouraging the players to stay amateur for a little longer, we can provide them with the best preparation for life as a professional golfer,” explains GolfRSA CEO Grant Hepburn. “Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Rupert, we are able to provide funding, support, advice, training camps and, ultimately, playing opportunities for the best of South Africa’s young golfing talent.”
The National Squad provides a valuable platform for talented golfers to further develop their skills and showcase them through competition, locally and on the world stage.
