Southern Cape mowed down Gauteng North in a pressure packed final round tussle to claim a historic first victory in the 56th South African Inter-Provincial Championship on Friday.

KwaZulu-Natal earned the coveted promotion in the 56th South African Inter-Provincial Championship, sponsored by Tempest, with an unbeaten performance at the Fish River Sun Country Club on Friday.

Southern Cape made a solid start in the fight for glory against Gauteng North to lead the final round foursomes 2.5 – 1.5 at the 56th South African Inter-Provincial Championship, but the Garden Route side had to dig deep after Gauteng North fought back hard on the back nine at the Fish River Sun Country Club. Ekurhuleni and Central Gauteng drew 2-all and Western Province set up a second successive victory with a 3 – 1 lead over Boland.

Log leaders KwaZulu-Natal edged out Eastern Province in the final round foursomes to take a one point lead into the last eight singles at the 56th South African Inter-Provincial, while North West will need to dig deep if they want to stay alive in the promotion battle after drawing with Free State. Mpumalanga made the most of the calm start to the final day to claim 3.5 points against Limpopo.
