Some of the country’s avid golfers took part in the 2010 Old Mutual International Pairs National Finals, held from 16 until 19 August at Zebula Golf Estate and Spa, located in Bela Bela in Limpopo.
The S.A. Senior Amateur Golf Association sent a 10 man side to the UK, primarily to play, as individuals, in the British Senior Amateur Open at Walton Heath Golf Club. The team departed on Mon 2 August and consisted of the ten top players from the SASAGA Order of Merit, namely, Jock Wellington, Tim Hewan, Robbie Meier, Andy Ostle, Anton Vortsman, Gavin Van Aswegen, Dirk Swanevelder, Brian Lottering, Jonathan Hobday and Steve Cullen.
Brandon Stone who playes golf out of Gardener Ross, Gauteng North, won for the second time this year as he held on to win the Southern Cape Open at Mossel Bay Golf Club by two shots from a charging Riekus Nortje.

Vryburg’s Nicole Becker won the Limpopo Stroke Play Championship when the event was played at Koro Creek over the weekend.
As a result of numerous requests by senior players, WGSA launched a new tournament this year – a 54 hole Mid Amateur Championship to be played from 7 to 10 November 2010 at Kingswood Golf Estate.
For the second year in a row the Girls’ British open amateur championship has been won by a French player. Alexandra Bonetti, 18, from Paris and holder of the French women’s championship, followed in the footsteps of compatriot Perrine Delacour by winning the title at Royal Belfast Golf club last week. South Africa’s Connie Chen and Lara Weinstein qualified for the match play but both lost in the first round.
