SA team geared for French Test

Four of South Africa’s top ranked mid-amateur golfers hope to emulate two-time US Open champion Retief Goosen when they chase success against the French at the Golf Du Medoc Resort near Bordeaux in France over the next two days.
Goosen beat a strong French line up to lift the French Open title at the Chateaux Course in 1999, and the quartet are relishing the chance to follow in his footsteps and beat the French on home soil.

Filippi in touch at Junior Open Championship

South Africa’s Luca Filippi finished just within striking distance of first round pacesetter, Hugo Townsend from Sweden, in the opening round of Junior Open Championship at the West Lancashire Golf Club in England.
Filippi from the Western Province carded a two-over-par 74 for a share of fourth in the prestigious biennial championship, presented by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (R&A).

Tuks undefeated at USSA Champs

The University of Pretoria successfully defended their title at the USSA (University Sport South Africa) Championship when they beat North West University in spectacular fashion at Koro Creek Golf Estate in Limpopo on Friday.
Marco Loubser, Andrew van der Knaap, Stephen Morrison and rookie Reinardt Blaauw stole the march on NWU Tukke to claim a fifth victory for Tuks since 2008 with an emphatic 5 -1 drubbing.

Open champ extends support for SA Junior Clubs Champs

Open champion Louis Oosthuizen is extending his commitment to junior golf development in South Africa by expanding his sponsorship of the Louis Oosthuizen SA Junior Club Championship by a further three years.
Oosthuizen made the announcement on the eve of the Open Championship, where he will pursue a second Major title in a world class field at Royal Liverpool Golf Club next week.

NWU and Tuks showdown at USSA Champs

Germany and Argentina will serve as inspiration for the North West University team when they face off against the University of Pretoria in the USSA (University Sport South Africa) Championship final at Koro Creek Golf Estate on Friday.
NWU Pukke booked their berth with 4 – 2 victory against Tuks 2, while Tuks 1 defeated The Golf School of Excellence Johannesburg in a play-off to make their seventh consecutive final.

Rebula in the mix at North & South USA

South African junior Jovan Rebula is making waves across the Atlantic after a superb first round performance in the Junior North and South Championship in the United States.
The Ernie Els and Fancourt Foundation member from George fired a three-under-par 69 at the Number Eight course at Pinehurst to tie American David Kocher in the 36th edition of the prestigious international event.
