Gauteng North got their South African U23 Inter-Provincial title defence off in spectacular fashion with a comprehensive first round victory at Royal Durban Country Club on Monday.

The field at this year’s South African U-23 Inter-Provincial Championship will be flush with youthful exuberance when the national team championship tees off at Royal Durban Golf Club from 7-11 April.

Gauteng North is hoping to spoil the party for defending champions Central Gauteng at the 26^thedition of the INDWE SA Senior Amateur Inter-Provincial from 8-11 April.

Ekurhuleni’s Paul Boshoff defeated Hennie du Plessis from Limpopo at the last hole of a humdinger 36-hole final to lift the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Match Play Championship title on Saturday.

Hennie du Plessis dispatched unheralded Herman Loubser in the semi-final of the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Match Play Championship to reach the 36-hole final at Umhlali Country Club on Friday.
Du Plessis beat the youngster 6 & 4 and will go up against Paul Boshoff from Ekurhuleni, who claimed the biggest scalp of the championship when he downed South African’s number one ranked junior, Jovan Rebula, in the quarter-finals.

Central Gauteng will launch their title defence at the 26^thedition of the INDWE SA Senior Amateur Inter-Provincial, but it could be the Western Province that provides the sparks at De Zalze and Erinvale from 7-11 April.

Ekurhuleni’s Tristen Strydom made a big move towards the double at the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Championship, but the Stroke Play champion could be in for a tough quarter-final tussle in the Match Play Championship at Umhlali Country Club on Friday.
