Hennie du Plessis dispatched unheralded Herman Loubser in the semi-final of the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Match Play Championship to reach the 36-hole final at Umhlali Country Club on Friday.
Du Plessis beat the youngster 6 & 4 and will go up against Paul Boshoff from Ekurhuleni, who claimed the biggest scalp of the championship when he downed South African’s number one ranked junior, Jovan Rebula, in the quarter-finals.
Central Gauteng will launch their title defence at the 26thedition of the INDWE SA Senior Amateur Inter-Provincial, but it could be the Western Province that provides the sparks at De Zalze and Erinvale from 7-11 April.
Ekurhuleni’s Tristen Strydom made a big move towards the double at the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Championship, but the Stroke Play champion could be in for a tough quarter-final tussle in the Match Play Championship at Umhlali Country Club on Friday.
