Strydom takes control at Umhlali

Ekurhuleni’s Tristen Strydom replaced first round leader Altin van der Merwe in pole position at the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Championship in KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday.
The 17-year-old from Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate took advantage of the early morning breeze at Umhlali Country Club to navigate his way to a three-under-par 68 and lunged to the top of the leaderboard on three under 139.

Van der Merwe leads Nomads SA Boys

Altin van der Merwe carded an opening two-under-par 69 at Umhlali Country Club to hit the front at the Nomads SA Boys U-19 Championship in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday. The Western Province number finished one shot clear of fellow Province golfer, Luca Filippi, and German junior, Michael Pfeifer.

Bezuidenhout claims Sanlam Cape Province Open

Christiaan Bezuidenhout lived up to his number one amateur billing when he claimed his second title this season in convincing style at the Sanlam Cape Province Open in George on Sunday.

The Ekurhuleni golfer held off reigning Sanlam SA Amateur, Thriston Lawrence, with a final round 68 for three stroke victory on 14-under-par 274.

Du Preez beats Roux to win North West Open

James du Preez celebrated a lengthy return to form from injury with his first senior provincial title at the North West Open Championship on Sunday. The Pretoria golfer tied Gerlou Roux from the Western Province in regulation play on 14-under-par 274, and clinched the title in a sudden death play-off at Rustenburg Golf Club.
