The Western Province expects strong opposition in the third round single matches at the South African Inter Provincial this afternoon, after handing Free State / Northern Cape a solid 4-0 drumming in the morning foursomes at Pretoria Country Club.
The Western Province strengthened their grip on the 50th South African Inter Provincial tournament at Pretoria Country Club by shutting out Central Gauteng in the afternoon singles on day two.
Central Gauteng threw down the gauntlet and made their intentions crystal clear with 10 splendid points on day one of the 50th South African Inter Provincial at Pretoria Country Club.
Team captain Ryan Dreyer, who led his team to a 4-0 whitewash in the foursomes and six victories in the singles against Free State and Northern Cape, said: “We didn’t come here to pick up where we left off last year. We came to win and the team delivered the kind of start I expected.

Defending champions Kwa-Zulu Natal are hunting an eighth title when the 50th edition of the South African Inter Provincial tees off at Pretoria Country Club from 20-24 September.
“We are as ready as can be expected,” said team captain Ryan de Beer. “I think we will surprise a lot of people who don’t rate us, just because the tournament is being played inland this year.
There have been an unprecedented number of applications and in order to process these and make an appointment in the best interest of SA Golf, the SAGA has extended the date of appointment to 1 January 2011.

The South African Golf Association will celebrate the 50th edition of its most prestigious amateur team event at Pretoria Country Club from 20-24 September 2010.
South African Hayden Porteous (pictured on the far right along with the rest of the SA contingent from left to right: Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Thriston Lawrence, Errol Taylor (manager) and Shane Allan) who won the second playing of this tournament in 2008, showed his class once again with a third place finish on a score of 296 (+4). Porteous lead for the first three rounds of the championship until a final round of 77 left him in a tie for third, one shot behind the winner.
