Women’s Golf South Africa announced this week that Rose Bowl winner Izel Pieters has been chosen to play in the 2010 R & A Junior Open to be played in Scotland in July, while SA Girls Champion Connie Chen, together with Talia Nel and Lara Weinstein will travel to Germany and Northern Ireland in August.
17 year old Waterkloof junior Connie Chen lifted the 54 hole 2010 Nomads SA Girl’s Championship trophy with a great seven-under-par 209 at Orkney Golf Club last weekend.

Top SA Junior shot a five under par 67 today to lead the Nomads SA Girls Championships by one stroke on 138 from Namibian Bonita Bredenhann who signed for a two under 70 today (139). The event is being played over 54 holes at Orkney Golf Club this weekend.

Swazilands Nobuhle Dlamini, winner of the 2009 Sanlam SA Amateur Match Play Championships, returned to tournament golf at the SA Amateur last week and today picked up the Gauteng Match Play Championship Trophy. The event was played at The Country Club Woodmead this week.

Triple SA Girls Champion Bertine Strauss , playing out of Rustenburg, will be back at Orkney Golf Club this weekend to defend her Nomads SA Girls Championship title.
After her spectacular double at the Sanlam SA Amateur last week, Kim Williams continued her run of victories when she claimed the Proshop Gauteng Amateur Championship title played at the 72-par Country Club, Woodmead course yesterday.

Kim Williams confirmed her place as SA’s top woman golfer as she claimed the match play crown and the double at Port Elizabeth Golf Club today. 17-Year old Namibian Bonita Bredenhann took Kim to the 32nd hole before conceding the match when she was dormie four down.
