South Africa finished tied fifth with Japan and Germany on -14 at The Spirit which was played at Whispering Pines this week.

The SA Girls finsihed three under on day three of The Spirit being played at Whispering Pines and tied ninth in the women’s competition on -1. The SA men are tied sixth on -9 and the team is in eighth position on -10 going into the final round.
The South Africans are in 6th place on -6 at The Spirit after SA’s men equalled the low round of day two in very cold and windy conditions.
The South African team are eight shots off the pace after the opening round of the 2011 Spirit International, which teed off at Whispering Pines Golf Course in Houston, Texas on Wednesday. The South African team pictured here – Iliska Verwey, Haydn Porteus, Ruan de Smidt and Kim Williams – arrived in Houston, Texas after a 24 hour journey from Johannesburg to fly the South African flag as they ‘go for gold’ this week. The team is participating The Spirit – a biennial international tournament being played at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
South Africa’s top-ranked players, Kim Williams and Iliska Verwey left South Africa today to represent South Africa at The Spirit to be played from Wednesday to Saturday this coming week (2 -5 November).
