Thirteen-year-old Shawnelle de Lange from Fochville won the Women’s Sanlam Cancer Trophy played at Sun City this week.

Milnerton teenager Cara Gorlei won the 54-hole Gus Ackerman Stroke Play Trophy at Westlake Golf Club on Sunday after a two-hole play-off against WP team-mate Kelly Erasmus. Both players were tied on 12-over 288 after the final round.

SA Stroke Play Champion Kim Williams picked up her second ‘double’ of 2011 when she defeated team member and foursomes partner Henriette Frylinck 2/1 in the final of the Boland Ladies Amateur Match Play Championship played at Strand Golf Club this week.

From an entry of 38 players in the A division, SA Stroke Play Champion Kim Williams easily held her nerve to take her fifth 2011 provincial championship by seven shots from top junior Lara Weinstein when the Boland Women’s 54-hole championship was played a Strand Golf Club this week.

After the success of the SA Mid-Amateur Championship played at Kingswood Golf Estate in 2010 when 80 ladies competed in two divisions, the 2011 event has attracted over 100 entries – and entries close tomorrow Friday 7 October. Pictured here are the Ladies from Mossel Bay Golf Club – most of whom will be back this year.

24 Lovely Malaysian ladies, including two members of the Malaysian Royal family, are enjoying a golfing holiday in the Western Cape. Left is Executive Director of the Malaysian Ladies Golf Union Rabe Abbas, next to WGSA Secretary is the President, Her Highness Princess Tunku Tuanku Ja’Afar and on the right is Committee member Wan Wan Faried.

Kim Williams is awarded the Gilly Tebbutt Trophy for topping the WGSA ranking at the end of September.
