Milnerton teenager Cara Gorlei won the 54-hole Gus Ackerman Stroke Play Trophy at Westlake Golf Club on Sunday after a two-hole play-off against WP team-mate Kelly Erasmus. Both players were tied on 12-over 288 after the final round.
SA Stroke Play Champion Kim Williams picked up her second ‘double’ of 2011 when she defeated team member and foursomes partner Henriette Frylinck 2/1 in the final of the Boland Ladies Amateur Match Play Championship played at Strand Golf Club this week.
From an entry of 38 players in the A division, SA Stroke Play Champion Kim Williams easily held her nerve to take her fifth 2011 provincial championship by seven shots from top junior Lara Weinstein when the Boland Women’s 54-hole championship was played a Strand Golf Club this week.

After the success of the SA Mid-Amateur Championship played at Kingswood Golf Estate in 2010 when 80 ladies competed in two divisions, the 2011 event has attracted over 100 entries – and entries close tomorrow Friday 7 October. 24 Lovely Malaysian ladies, including two members of the Malaysian Royal family, are enjoying a golfing holiday in the Western Cape. Kim Williams is awarded the Gilly Tebbutt Trophy for topping the WGSA ranking at the end of September.
