Val goes the extra mile for Mid Amateur

Seventy one golfers teed off in the inaugural SA Mid Amateur Championships at the picturesque but challenging Kingwood Golf Estate today. The event was organised by WGSA Coach and Kingswood Golf Estate Director, Val Holland pictured here welcoming players and guests at the opening function. Former South African champions Yvette du Plessis (73) and Gilly Tebbutt (78) lead the field together with Sonja Bland (77) and will play in the leading group in the Championship Division.

SA defends All Africa Challenge Trophy in Abuja, Nigeria

Three top South African golfers, Tiffany Avern-Taplin, Henriëtte Frylinck and Lumien Orton, will represent South Africa at the All African Challenge Trophy (AACT) which celebrates its 10th anniversary this week in Abuja, Nigeria. South Africa won the previous championship when it was played in Cairo in 2008.

Lee-Anne Wins second title in China

UZHOU (China) Oct 31, 2010: South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace had the best two weeks in China as she picked up her second victory by winning the Eur200,000 Suzhou-Taihu Ladies Open after being involved in a four-way playoff with USA’s Hannah Jun, Paraguay’s Julieta Granada and Netherlands’ Christel Boeljon at the Suzhou-Taihu International Golf Club.

Third in the World!

Buenos Aires, Argentina (23 October) – Korea broke the record for the lowest score and won the 2010 Women’s World Amateur Team Championship by 17 strokes over the USA to claim its second Espirito Santo Trophy at Olivos Golf Club.

The South African team of Connie Chen, Kelli Shean and Kim Williams finish tied third with Sweden and France.
