South African juniors sweep the board in India

South African won both the team events at the Hex City Albatross Junior Championships played in New Delhi this week. The-54 hole tournament finished today with South Africa’s juniors all on the prize rostram. Lara Weinstein was the overall winner in the A Division, with Izel Pieters runner -up in the girls’ A Division. Dylan Raubenheimer won the boy’s A Division and Thriston Lawrence lost on the second play-off hole in the boys’ B Division.

SA Juniors tee off in India today

Four South African junior golfers tee off today in the second 54 hole Hex City – Albatross Junior Golf Championship in India. The players from left to tight are Thriston Lawrence (Nelspruit), Izel Pieters (Sabi River Bungalows), Lara Weinstein (Glendower)and Dylan Raubenheimer (Somerset West). The manager is WGSA President Erica Lefson.

Kim wins her final amateur tournament on 8 under

Determined to play well at her last amateur tournament this weekend, Kim Williams finished on eight under par, carding 67 and 69 (136), to win the Mpumalanga Women’s Championships by seven strokes from Swaziland’s Nobuhle Dlamini on 143 (74, 69). Gauteng’s Michelle Leigh, playing consistent golf, signed for 75 and 74 (149) to finish in third position.

Kim Williams is well-prepared and her low rounds will stand her in good stead as, together with Iliska Verwey, Henriette Frylinck and Nicole Becker, she leaves tomorrow for Spain where the girls will try to qualify for the professional Ladies European Tour in 2011. They will be in Europe for a month, playing in the various qualifying events. Connie Chen who has already turned professional will join them.
