Zingela wins Golfer’s Club KZN Senior

Congratulations to Mzuyanda Zingela from Eastern Province, who won the Golfer’s Club KZN 36 Hole Open. The Uitenhage golfer carded successive rounds of 73 at Cotswold Downs for a two stroke victory on two-over-par 146 over Gordon Wessels from Gauteng North.

Conquering Ellis-Cole geared for 55th SA IPT

Ekurhuleni’s Angus Ellis-Cole broke through for his first provincial victory in the Mpumalanga Open on Sunday and it was a very timely win for Glendower golfer, who won the weather-reduced tournament on 19-under-par 197. Ellis-Cole rose to 24th in the South African Golf Association’s Open Amateur Rankings and the victory has given him an injection of confidence ahead of his third appearance for Ekurhuleni in the 55th Premier South African Inter-Provincial.

Hendrikse wins KZN Spring Open

South Africa’s number one senior Mellette Hendrikse from Gauteng North claimed his fourth victory this season in the
KZN Spring Open on Saturday.
The 54-year-old reigning Indwe SA Senior Amateur Stroke play champion carded rounds of 76 and 74 at Durban County Club to beat local favourite Glyn Forman and David Konzani from Eastern Province by one stroke on 150.

Ekurhuleni’s Angus Ellis-Cole has taken the 36-hole lead in the Mpumalanga Open Stroke Play Championship.
The Glendower amateur added a 65 to his opening 66 at Walker Park Golf Club to lead on 13-under-par 131.

Watson edges clear in Mpumalanga Open

Southern Cape’s Tom Watson will take a one shot lead into the second round of the Mpumalanga Open Stroke Play Championship after a firing a flawless seven-under-par 65 on Friday.
Watson, who is yet to break through on the South African Golf Association’s provincial circuit, reeled in five birdies and an eagle at Walker Park Golf Club to edge ahead of Angus Cole-Ellis from Ekurhuleni.

SA to chase seventh African Amateur Team Champs title

The South African Golf Association (SAGA) has selected Jason Smith, Jade Buitendag, Aubrey Beckley and new cap Andre Nel to fly the flag for South Africa in the eighth African Amateur Golf Teams Championship in Kenya. The team will line up in the country’s title defence at Limuru Country Club from 12-15 October.
